Sorry, this took much longer than it should have. Also it doesn't have as much overt Fiddler in it as I thought, but believe me when I say the songs were going through my head the whole time.
It's not the same.
Intellectually, he knew it wouldn't be, but... One of the ways he survived Prox was with the thought that, once he was done, once the lighthouses were lit, they could all go back to Vale and everything would be the way it was before.
But nothing is ever the way it was before. It's less than two weeks before he slips out, no destination in mind, just wandering. The road feels so much more like home, now, than Vale does, that he hardly notices when Sheba joins him.
---
Together they try Lalivero. Faran loves Sheba as his own daughter, and both Felix and Sheba must respect that. But most of the rest of town sees her as their idol, and though they can't hold her - not with her power, not with Felix scowling around, dark as she's fair, obviously trusting each other - she doesn't fit here even as much as Felix fits where the Valeans have settled. They move on.
---
They return to Mount Aleph for the wedding. At first Felix is shocked at the idea of his sister marrying, but by the time they arrive he accepts that he can't control her, and that Isaac will be a good man for her.
He marries Sheba a year later, under Jupiter Lighthouse. It seems appropriate.
---
No one can know everything about Alchemy, and how Psynergy is inherited.
They name their first child Saturos, and watch in delight as he begins to master water.
---
It is in Loho that they first see a Psynergy Vortex. Felix feels it before he sees it, a hole in the world, a wrongness in the flow of Psynergy through the world. At first he is wary but curious. It doesn't seem to exert any kind of physical force on the world, but anything that comes near it disappears. The effect is particularly strange with the hand-based Psynergies like Move, as it sucks in the closest finger first. He considers ginding a pigeon to call Kraden.
Then little Saturos arrives. The Vortex fascinates him, and before Felix can do anything he has wandered right in and disappeared. Only Sheba's quick reactions and strong winds keep the Vortex from claiming two lives that day.
From that moment, Felix hates the Psynergy Vortexes as he has never hated anything before.
---
The Mourning Moon, when it appears, can be seen and felt even in Garoh. Felix is appalled. This thing is new, and it is wrong, and it must never threaten his family again.
---
It is in Lemuria, trying to research the cause of Vortexes, that they have their second child. Her name is Karst, and she is the opposite of her namesake in every way imaginable. It is her early use of wind that lets Sheba find a book about Anemos.
King Hydros laughs, and says that Karst is destined to find things.
---
For years - decades - they continue their searches, he for the Vortexes, she for her origin. Their daughters grow up around them, most leaving to begin their own families. It pains him, each time worse than before, but he couldn't hold them back and live with himself after. Menardi and Marie, Sarah and Syendi, and all the others. Only Karst stays, helping their research, helping them drive back the occasional Tuaparang raid. Even when she looks twice his age, she is a comfort to Felix, his little Karst.
DD spoilers, although not of central plotpoints. 1/2
